With a view to offering greater convenience to travellers, the border post at Komatipoort, known as Lebombo on the South Africa side and Ressano Garcia on the Mozambique side, is to stay open 24 hours a day, all year round. This was declared following the signing of legal instruments on the matter, in an act witnessed by the interior ministers of the two countries.
The development was originally expected to be introduced in April, but was postponed because of technical issues. Previously, the Ressano Garcia border crossing was open 18 hours a day, and all day only during the festive season.
